Nina Rica Wium Geiker serves as a Guest Researcher at the Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports (NEXS) within the Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen. Her research is centered in the Lifecourse Nutrition & Health group, where she investigates critical intersections between nutrition, metabolism, and health outcomes across different life stages. Her research interests focus on prenatal nutrition interventions, particularly examining how maternal dietary patterns during pregnancy affect offspring growth trajectories and metabolic health. She has substantial expertise in body composition analysis, with numerous studies investigating adipose tissue distribution during pregnancy and its implications for maternal and child health outcomes. Her work frequently addresses obesity-related issues across the lifespan, from childhood interventions for socially vulnerable populations to metabolic consequences of fat distribution in adults. Dr. Geiker's recent publications demonstrate a strong emphasis on clinical nutrition research, with multiple randomized controlled trials and longitudinal studies examining dietary interventions during pregnancy, particularly for women with overweight or obesity. Her methodological expertise includes validation of dietary assessment tools and advanced body composition analysis using imaging techniques. She has secured research funding from diverse sources including the Novo Nordisk Foundation, Danish Pig Meat Association, Danish Dairy Research Foundation, Nordea Foundation, Arla Food for Health, and several other industry and charitable organizations focused on nutrition and health.
