Dr. Glenn Williams is an Assistant Professor in Psychology at Northumbria University. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and MRes in Language & Cognition from Northumbria University, followed by a PhD in Psychology from the University of Dundee. His postdoctoral work included a Leverhulme-funded grant at Abertay University exploring dialect effects on literacy. He previously served as a Lecturer at the University of Sunderland before returning to Northumbria in 2022. His research focuses on language processing, literacy acquisition, and dialect exposure. Notable projects include investigating spatial narrative context's impact on discourse comprehension and dialect's role in artificial literacy learning. He also specializes in advanced statistical methods, including Bayesian inference and R programming. Williams has collaborated on web-based experiments (e.g., artificial literacy learning via Amazon Mechanical Turk) and maintains expertise in eye-tracking and data analysis techniques. His work spans cognitive psychology, psycholinguistics, and clinical psychology, with publications addressing language control mechanisms, bilingualism, and sociolinguistic factors affecting literacy. Recent trends in his publications emphasize cross-linguistic studies, experimental psychology, and interdisciplinary applications of statistical methods. His consulting work highlights R and Python proficiency for behavioral data analysis. He has contributed to open science initiatives, including the Psychological Science Accelerator. Williams' research integrates experimental methods with computational modeling, addressing questions like how dialect exposure influences literacy and the cognitive control processes underlying bilingualism. His work bridges theoretical and applied psychology, with implications for education and clinical practice.
