Dr Su Corcoran is a Research Associate at Manchester Metropolitan University's Faculty of Health and Education, affiliated with the School of Childhood, Youth and Education Studies (CYES). With over 25 years of experience in education and international development, she holds a PhD in Education from the University of Manchester and has worked globally with NGOs like the Consortium for Street Children and Retrak. Her research focuses on inclusive education, social justice, and the experiences of street-connected youth, particularly their transitions into education and communities. She leads projects such as the Belonging and Learning initiative using arts-based methods to bridge youth and policymakers. Corcoran chairs ethics committees, coordinates early career researcher networks, and reviews for journals like Global Studies of Childhood. Notable awards include the 2019 BERA 'Best in SIG' prize for her work on parental involvement in schools. She supervises PhD students exploring queer equalities, digital citizenship, and trauma-informed classrooms. Current projects include evaluating the National Literacy Trust’s Represent program and exploring hedge laying’s impact on volunteer well-being. Corcoran also serves as Programme Officer for the Enabling Education Network, co-editing their review.
