Professor EJ Renold holds the position of Professor of Childhood Studies at Cardiff University's School of Social Sciences, Wales, UK. Their work centers on gender, sexuality, and subjectivity in children and young people's lives through participatory and creative methodologies. They co-founded youngsexualities.org and co-edited Gender and Education (2006–2012).
Research explores young masculinities/femininities, sexual cultures, marginalized youth, and critical theory (feminist, queer, post-constructionist, new materialist). Current projects investigate rural/urban youth sexualities, spatiality, and anti-violence advocacy. They led the 2017 Welsh Government expert panel on Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE), shaping policy implementation.
