Jin Woo Kim is a Professor at the University of Arkansas in Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Materials Science & Engineering. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Pohang University of Science & Technology (POSTECH). With a Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from Texas A&M University and a dual B.S. from Seoul National University and University of Iowa, his work bridges biologically inspired nanotechnology with applications in tissue engineering , drug delivery , and programmable self-assembly . Education: B.S. in Chemical & Biological Engineering (Seoul National University), B.S. in Microbiology (University of Iowa), M.S. in Biology (University of Wisconsin), Ph.D. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering (Texas A&M) Current Positions: Director of Bio/Nano Technology Group (2001–present), Graduate Coordinator of Biological Engineering (2006–present) His research focuses on bio/nano interfacing and programmable self-assembly to create multifunctional hierarchical structures for advanced materials. This spans biomedical , agricultural , and energy applications . His work has been cited in Nature , Science , and Nature Nanotechnology . Scientific awards include: Fellow of IEEE (2022) for contributions to nanoscale fabrication Fellow of AIMBE (2017) for bio/abio interface research Arkansas Biosciences Institute Investigator of the Year (2019) Multiple Outstanding Researcher and Mentor Awards at the University of Arkansas He holds editorial roles as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Open Journal of Nanotechnology and Senior Editor of IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology . His leadership roles in IEEE Nanotechnology Council include President-Elect (2023) and Vice President for Conferences (2021–2022).
