Alexander Kupers serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), contributing to the institution's mathematical research community with expertise in advanced topological structures. Dr. Kupers completed his undergraduate and Master's studies at Utrecht University in the Netherlands before earning his PhD from Stanford University, where he investigated topological groups of diffeomorphisms of high-dimensional manifolds under the supervision of Søren Galatius. His academic journey continued with postdoctoral research at Copenhagen University followed by a Benjamin Pierce fellowship at Harvard University. His research program focuses on automorphism groups of geometric and algebraic objects, particularly diffeomorphism groups and general linear groups, employing sophisticated methods from algebraic topology. Dr. Kupers' scholarly work bridges theoretical frameworks in homotopy theory with applications in manifold studies and algebraic K-theory, contributing to fundamental understanding in these mathematical domains. Algebraic and Geometric Topology Homotopy Theory Manifolds Algebraic K-theory Dr. Kupers' contributions to mathematical research have been recognized with the prestigious 2024 André Aisenstadt Prize awarded by the Centre de recherches mathématiques (CRM), highlighting his impact in the mathematical community. As an academic, Dr. Kupers maintains an active scholarly presence through publications, lecture notes, and academic presentations. His Curriculum Vitae, updated in fall 2024, documents his ongoing contributions to mathematical theory and education at the University of Toronto.
