Professor Caroline Tait is affiliated with the University of Alberta, holding dual appointments as Professor in the Faculty of Social Work and as Professor in the Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Community Health Sciences. She also serves as the Indigenous Lead for the Indigenous Platform at the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program and as a Child Health & Wellness Researcher at the Alberta Children's Hospital Research Institute.
Her research program is community-based, highly applied, and critically examines historical and present-day discrimination against Indigenous peoples. Key focus areas include addressing structural racism across human service sectors, entrenching First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) research sovereignty, supporting Indigenous leadership in research, advancing understanding of social suffering's political economy, and developing practical knowledge translation with community partners.
