Dr. Joel Amegboh is an Assistant Professor of African Security Studies at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS), part of the National Defense University. Based in Washington, D.C., he specializes in national security strategy development, security sector governance, and the intersection of security, development, and governance in fragile and conflict-affected states in Africa. His work includes academic programming, research integration, and outreach initiatives. Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University’s Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution M.A. in Global Development and Peace Studies B.A. in International Political Economy and Diplomacy from the University of Bridgeport Dr. Amegboh’s research focuses on national security strategy development and implementation in Africa, with particular emphasis on security sector resource mobilization, governance, and the challenges faced by fragile states. His expertise also extends to youth and security, human security, and the broader security-development-governance nexus. His publications address critical African security challenges, including national security strategy formulation, violent extremism containment, and political dynamics in conflict-prone regions like Togo.
