Professor Rhoda Wanyenze serves as Dean of Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), holding MBChB, MPH, and PhD qualifications. With extensive experience in infectious disease research and program management, she previously led the Makerere University Joint AIDS Program and remains a pivotal figure in Uganda's public health landscape.
Her educational background includes:
- MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery)
- MPH (Master of Public Health)
- PhD
Research focuses on:
- HIV and tuberculosis epidemiology
- Maternal and child health interventions
- Public health policy formulation
- Capacity building in resource-limited settings
Her work has secured major funding from NIH, CDC, and Global Fund, establishing extensive national and international collaborations. As policy leader, she serves on Ugandan Ministry of Health technical committees and global health organization boards.
Under her leadership, MakSPH oversees four core departments: Community Health and Behavioral Sciences; Disease Control and Environmental Health; Epidemiology and Biostatistics; and Health Policy Planning and Management.
