Dana Sloter, DMA, is a Teaching Professor of Clarinet at Simpson University and also serves as a Clarinet Teaching Artist at Drake University. She maintains private piano and clarinet studios through Sounding Sharp and the Drake University Community School of Music, employing pedagogical methods that emphasize technical skills and creativity. As a woodwind doubler, she performs in theater pit orchestras across multiple U.S. cities and is affiliated with several professional organizations, including Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity and the International Alliance of Women in Music. Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance (Drake University, 2013) Master of Music in Clarinet Performance (Arizona State University, 2015) Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance (University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, recent) Dr. Sloter's pedagogical approach focuses on foundational technical and expressive skills for clarinet and piano students, with a commitment to diversifying repertoire by including works from women composers and transcriptions across genres. Her performance experience spans woodwind doubling, including piccolo, flute, oboe, and saxophone, alongside roles as a music director. She actively contributes to music education through curriculum development and professional engagement. Dr. Sloter is affiliated with Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, American Federation of Musicians (Local 75), and the International Alliance of Women in Music.
