Edouard Schaal is an ICREA Research Professor at the Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI), Adjunct Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), and Associate Research Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE). He is also a Research Affiliate of the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). His editorial roles include serving as Associate Editor at the Economic Journal and editorial board member at the Review of Economic Studies , following prior editorship at the Review of Economic Dynamics . He holds a PhD in Economics from Princeton University (2011) and previously held positions at New York University and the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Research Focus: Schaal's work centers on macro-scale economic phenomena with emphasis on: Labor market mechanics and search frictions Information asymmetry impacts on business cycles Spatial equilibrium modeling Uncertainty transmission in economic systems Network-based economic geography His recent publications explore behavioral economics in market cycles, optimal policy design during crises, and spatial infrastructure efficiency. Collaborative works frequently address coordination failures and equilibrium dynamics using rigorous theoretical frameworks.
