Craig Wilkie is a Research Fellow at the University of East London (UEL), working with the Rix Inclusive Research Institute. He specializes in developing technologies that promote inclusive learning and teaching methods, particularly for people with disabilities and marginalized groups. His work focuses on creating accessible educational tools and environments through innovative technological solutions. Craig holds a BA (Hons) in Education with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), which forms the foundation of his expertise in both educational theory and practical classroom application. His academic background combines educational principles with technological implementation. Craig's research centers on using technology to create more inclusive educational experiences. His work particularly focuses on Virtual Reality , Augmented Reality , and multimedia technologies to support learners with disabilities. He has a special interest in developing tools for Children in Care to improve their confidence and motivation in reading and writing. His approach emphasizes co-creation with people who have lived experience of disability or marginalization, ensuring technologies genuinely meet user needs. His publications demonstrate a consistent focus on digital and multimodal literacy in educational settings. From his 2018 work on "Power Up Literacy" through to his upcoming 2025 research on Rix Wiki software, Craig's scholarship shows an evolving trajectory from general digital literacy toward increasingly specialized applications for vulnerable populations. His research increasingly emphasizes participatory design methods involving end-users in the development process. Craig actively supports project delivery at RIX as a qualified project manager with IT project delivery experience. In 2024, he co-delivered an inclusive hackathon event at UEL with Ajay Choksi, demonstrating his commitment to making collaborative technology events accessible to diverse participants. His work bridges educational theory, technological innovation, and social inclusion. Craig leads initiatives including the Rix software development, Multimodal Literacy programme, and inclusive hackathon events. His Rix Inclusive Research team focuses on creating technologies like Rix EasySurvey that enable people with learning disabilities to participate more fully in research and educational activities.
