Dr. Jens Gulden is a Lecturer in Process Science at Utrecht University's Faculty of Science. His work spans business process modeling, information systems engineering, data visualization, and increasingly focuses on ethical considerations in business informatics. He is affiliated with the Software Process Science research group and has been actively publishing since 2006 with recent work extending into 2025. His research interests center around conceptual modeling, business process management, and data visualization techniques. He has made significant contributions to understanding how visual representations can support decision-making processes, particularly through eye-tracking studies. More recently, his work has evolved to address ethical dimensions of information systems, with growing focus on moral responsibility in conceptual modeling and ethical reasoning methods for ICT. His publications reveal a clear research trajectory from technical aspects of modeling and visualization toward addressing ethical implications of business information systems. He has co-organized multiple workshops on ethics and morality in business informatics (EMoWI) and has been instrumental in special sections of business process modeling conferences (BPMDS). Dr. Gulden has been actively involved in teaching courses such as Colloquium Business Informatics, Responsible ICT, and Scientific Research Methods for Business Informatics, reflecting his dual expertise in technical and ethical aspects of information systems. His collaborative network includes researchers like S. España, A. Bock, and R. Schmidt, with whom he has co-edited conference proceedings and organized workshops focused on both technical and ethical dimensions of business informatics.
