Barry K. Lavine is a Regents Professor of Chemistry at Oklahoma State University with a distinguished career in analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, and chemometrics. He has held leadership roles in the American Chemical Society (ACS), including Chair of both the Northern New York and Oklahoma sections, and served as Program Chair for multiple scientific meetings. His research focuses on chemical analysis applications such as optical sensors , vibrational spectroscopy , and chemometrics , with over 115 research papers and 16 review articles published. Recent work explores FTIR-based oil authentication, copolymer pH sensors, and MALDI-IMS-MS cancer biomarker detection. Selected for editorial excellence, Lavine has edited 3 ACS monographs and serves on the editorial boards of journals like Journal of Chemometrics and Sensors . His accolades include: 2015 Kowalski Prize 2017 Chemometrics Award (Eastern Analytical Symposium) Fellow of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy
