Dr. Haichun Sun is a Professor in the College of Education at the University of South Florida , specializing in physical education research and pedagogy since joining the faculty in 2007. She holds a doctoral degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland—College Park , where she also served as coordinator of the Curriculum and Instruction Laboratory. Education: PhD in Kinesiology (University of Maryland—College Park), MEd in Education (Shanghai University of Sports) Her research focuses on motivational dynamics in physical activity settings, particularly examining self-determination theory applications and situational interest mechanisms in children and adolescents. She investigates how different physical education curricula and technology-based interventions (e.g., exergames) influence motivation, knowledge acquisition, and long-term health behaviors. Recent publications highlight her work in cross-cultural measurement validation , STEM-integrated PE curricula , and digital tools for physical literacy development . Her research spans psychometric testing, program evaluation, and behavioral change strategies across educational and community settings. Dr. Sun teaches undergraduate courses in class management, ethics, and instructional design , while graduate courses include research analysis, learner assessment , and advanced instructional methods . She has delivered over 50 national/international presentations, contributing extensively to understanding PA motivation and curriculum effectiveness.
