Charles (Chuck) Ridley is a Professor of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. His academic career includes roles as an instructor in courses such as PSYCH CONSULT TO ORGS, COUNSELING PRACTICUM I, and ADVANCED PSYCH SKILLS. He holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Minnesota (1978), an M.A. in Student Personnel Administration from Ball State University (1971), and a B.A. in Biblical Literature from Taylor University (1970). Ridley’s research focuses on multicultural counseling, clinical psychology, and case conceptualization. He has authored/co-authored books like Overcoming Unintentional Racism in Counseling and Therapy (2005) and contributed to journals such as The Counseling Psychologist and Journal of Clinical Psychology . His work addresses themes like racial-cultural competence, health disparities, and therapeutic innovation. Notable publications from 2017 to 2001 highlight advancements in thematic mapping for case conceptualization, multicultural assessment validity, and ethical practices in counseling. Ridley has advised numerous doctoral students, including recent graduates like Caroliina He Yin and Vy Tuong Tran. His research projects include initiatives funded by the DOD-Army and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, focusing on health disparities and scientist-practitioner development. Ridley has received the Distinguished 100 Alumni Award from the University of Minnesota (2006) and is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 17 & 45). He previously served on the editorial board of The Counseling Psychologist (1988–1990).
