Dr Zhaoheng Cai is a Researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Imperial College London. His research focuses on lightweight component manufacturing using high-strength aluminium alloys, comparing single point incremental forming (SPIF) and hot/warm stamping technologies for automotive applications. Key areas include material mechanical properties, finite element method (FEM) modeling, post-form strength optimization, and springback characteristics. He holds an MSc in Advanced Aeronautical Engineering and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering. His work spans numerical simulations, experimental testing, and process optimization, with a particular emphasis on interfacial heat transfer coefficient (IHTC) modeling and software-agnostic cloud-based FEA platforms. Research publications highlight contributions to FAST technology for dissimilar alloy fabrication, thermal-mechanical modeling in hot stamping, and springback analysis in martensitic steels. Collaborations involve interdisciplinary teams within the Metal Forming and Materials Modelling group at Imperial.
