Professor Chris Thiemermann is a leading pharmacologist at Queen Mary University of London, serving as Centre Lead for Translational Medicine & Therapeutics at the William Harvey Research Institute since 2007. With 40 years of expertise in sepsis, traumatic shock, and ischaemia research, he co-leads the Organ Dysfunction and Protection Research Theme alongside Professor Karim Brohi, focusing on: Excessive inflammation and ischaemia in critical illness Gender-specific disease responses Aging-related tissue injury mechanisms Translatable interventions for organ protection Immuno-metabolic dysregulation in sepsis/diabetes/CKD His work bridges target discovery in animal models with clinical translation. As CEO of William Harvey Research Limited and trustee of multiple institutions, he maintains active academic and administrative roles.
