Kathrin Schlafmann is an Associate Professor at the Department of Finance of Copenhagen Business School (CBS) . She serves as a Research Affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and a Research Fellow at the Danish Finance Institute (DFI) . Her primary research interests focus on Household Finance, Macroeconomics, Behavioral Finance, and Real Estate, with a particular emphasis on integrating behavioral aspects into quantitative macroeconomic models. She has been actively involved in organizing major academic initiatives, including the CEPR Household Finance Seminar Series (co-organizer with Marieke Bos) and the CEPR Advanced Forum in Financial Economics (CAFFE) . Schlafmann also leads a PhD Reading Group in Household Finance at CBS, fostering academic discourse among doctoral students. Her recent work includes groundbreaking studies on pension plan design, income expectation biases, and the interplay between wealth heterogeneity and macroeconomic volatility. In 2022, she received the prestigious Sapere Aude Starting Grant from Denmark's Independent Research Fund, supporting her research on household savings and macroprudential regulation. She has also contributed to policy-relevant analyses of mortgage markets and self-control mechanisms in housing decisions. Notable publications include a Review of Financial Studies article on pension plan optimization and an American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics paper on income expectation biases. Schlafmann's research frequently addresses policy implications, such as the design of effective wealth taxes and the impact of information asymmetries on economic stability.
