Dr. Maria Grazia Porcedda is an Associate Professor of IT Law at Trinity College Dublin's School of Law. Her research focuses on cybersecurity, privacy, data protection, and cybercrime within EU frameworks. She leads projects like 'Appraising the prevention and deterrence of cybercrime in Ireland' funded by Trinity College Dublin and holds grants from TRISS and AHSS. She advises EU cyber capacity-building initiatives and collaborates with institutions like ADAPT and the European Union Institute for Security Studies. Education includes a PhD in Law from the European University Institute, an LL.M. in Comparative European and International Laws, and degrees from the University of Bologna and Cagliari. Her work bridges law, technology, and policy with interdisciplinary collaborations. Research projects include cybersecurity-privacy trade-offs, cybercrime deterrence in Ireland, and EU cyber policies. She has published widely on GDPR, cyber risk management, and digital governance. Awards include the CLUSIT Thesis Prize and the Edoardo Ruffini Prize from the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei. She advises ethical boards for projects like TRESSPASS (H2020) and contributes to policy-oriented scholarship. Her grants include the Provost PhD Projects Award and ERASMUS+ funding.
