Kristin Gustavson is a Professor at the Department of Psychology, University of Oslo, since 2022. She holds dual affiliations as a Researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health since 2012 and has served as an Associate Professor II at the University of Oslo from 2015 to 2020. Her academic interests span quantitative methods, behavioral genetics, personality psychology, mental health, and developmental psychology. She specializes in causal inference methodologies and has developed the SibSim app to address biases in sibling control studies. Gustavson's research focuses on understanding familial and environmental influences on mental health, ADHD, and developmental outcomes. Her work frequently employs large-scale cohort studies, including the Norwegian Mother, Father, and Child Cohort Study (MoBa). She has contributed to advancements in psychometric validation, such as the Norwegian version of the D70 personality assessment tool. Her teaching responsibilities include courses on research methods, developmental psychology, personality psychology, and clinical training. She is a Section Editor for the Personality section of the Scandinavian Journal of Psychology . Her research has been widely published in top-tier journals like European Journal of Epidemiology and Psychological Medicine . Gustavson holds a PhD from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (2012) and prior experience as a clinical psychologist (2002–2009). She leads projects on methodological development in epidemiological studies and collaborates on initiatives like the TOPP study tracking child development from infancy to adulthood.
