Tanis MacDonald is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Wilfrid Laurier University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts. Her research focuses on Canadian poetry with particular attention to elegy, grief politics, and ecopoetics. She explores intersections of Canadian women’s literature, feminist theory, and postcolonial studies through her scholarship and creative works. Currently on sabbatical, her office is located in DAWB 3-130. Her research examines how literary forms engage with environmental crises, bodily trauma, and cultural memory. Projects include analyses of Indigenous land narratives, queer temporalities in poetry, and pedagogical approaches to teaching difficult histories. Recent publications span poetry collections, critical essays on contemporary Canadian writers, and interdisciplinary studies of affect and material culture. Publications from 2023-2025 emphasize experimental forms and urgent social themes, while earlier works (2016-2020) established her expertise in elegiac traditions and ecocritical analysis. Though no awards are listed, her work demonstrates significant contributions to Canadian literary studies. She provides opportunities for graduate students interested in poetry, gender studies, and environmental humanities.
