Myrna Dawson is a Professor and Research Leadership Chair in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology at the University of Guelph, within the College of Social & Applied Human Sciences. She holds the Canada Research Chair in Public Policy in Criminal Justice and directs the Centre for the Study of Social and Legal Responses to Violence (CSSLRV), established in 2005. Her research focuses on lethal/non-lethal violence, particularly intimate partner violence, and legal/social responses to victimization. Dawson is a global leader in femicide studies, co-directing the Canadian Domestic Homicide Prevention Initiative and founding the Canadian Femicide Observatory for Justice and Accountability. She advises international bodies like the United Nations and has authored/co-authored influential publications on violence prevention and gender-based violence frameworks.
