Dr. Mark Turner is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth in the School of Psychology, Sport and Health Sciences, part of the Faculty of Science & Health. He holds memberships including Associate Fellow of the British Psychology Society (CPsychol AFBPsS) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). His research focuses on the social impact of technology on health and well-being, with a particular emphasis on human factors, social media effects on body image, and online communication. Turner has authored over 30 publications, including studies on social media interventions, motion sickness, and user interface design. He actively supervises PhD students and contributes to interdisciplinary research through the Centre for Integrated Health and Wellbeing. Education: PhD in Motion Sickness (University of Southampton), MSc in Information Systems Design (University of Portsmouth), and undergraduate Psychology degree. Teaching focuses on Occupational Psychology, Psychological Testing, and Research Methods. Turner pioneered sandwich-year placements and a Social Enterprise module to enhance student employability. Research interests span human-computer interaction, technology’s role in mental health, and aging-related interface challenges. Key awards include EFPA accreditation in Work & Organisational Assessment and BPS Occupational Testing Competence. His work bridges academic research with practical applications in education and healthcare.
