Birgitta Blakstad Nilsson is an Associate Professor at OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University, affiliated with the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Department of Rehabilitation Science and Health Technology. Her research focuses on cardiac rehabilitation, mHealth technologies, and chronic disease management. She leads projects such as app-based follow-up for cardiac patients and lifestyle interventions for prediabetes prevention. Her work emphasizes digital health solutions, including smartphone apps for patient monitoring and follow-up. Key projects include a 5-year follow-up study on app-based cardiac rehabilitation outcomes and a systematic review comparing aquatic vs. land-based high-intensity training for chronic conditions.
