Øyvind Ellingsen

Øyvind Ellingsen is a Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and a Consultant Physician at the Department of Cardiology, St. Olavs Hospital, Trondheim. He is affiliated with the Cardiac Exercise Research Group (CERG) and leads the Laboratory of Cellular Cardiology at NTNU, founded in 1996. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of exercise benefits in cardiovascular disease, translating findings into prevention/rehabilitation programs, and investigating biomedical effects of meditation since 2006.

Education: MD and PhD from the University of Oslo, Norway, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University, USA.

Research collaborations include the HUNT-3 survey on physical activity and the SMARTEX-HF multicenter trial as Principal Investigator and Steering Committee Chairperson.
