Håvard Dalen

Professor Håvard Dalen is affiliated with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging. He is also a cardiologist at St. Olav’s University Hospital and Levanger Hospital. His research focuses on innovative ultrasound diagnostics, clinical applications of new ultrasound modalities, and understanding cardiac disease development. Dalen chairs the Clinical Academic Group for Improved Cardiac Diagnostic Imaging and the National Specialisation Committee in Cardiology. He leads cardiovascular assessments in the HUNT Study, a major population health survey in Nord-Trøndelag.

Education: MD, PhD in clinical medicine.

Research Interests: His work spans cardiac function, echocardiography, epidemiology, and telerehabilitation. He collaborates with national/international groups and is key in research centers like CIUS (NTNU) and ProCardio (Oslo University Hospital).

Awards: 2014 recipient of the Health Central Norway Research Prize. He was featured in NRK TV and Levanger-Avisa for his achievements.

Teaching & Advising: Mentors PhD/MSc students, physicians, and medical trainees. Oversees scientific quality of cardiac endpoints in Nord-Trøndelag hospitals, supporting epidemiological studies.

Labs/Teams: Active in the Ultrasound Research Group and Cardiac Exercise Research Group (CERG) at NTNU.
