Eivind Ness-Jensen is an Associate Professor and Project Manager at the HUNT Research Center, Department of Community Medicine and Nursing, NTNU. He leads the HUNT5 project (projected 2027-2029) and the HUNT celiac disease initiative, funded by the Research Council of Norway.
Education: Specialist in Internal Medicine & Digestive Diseases (2017), PhD in Public Health (2014, NTNU), Cand. med. (2005, University of Oslo). Professional roles include Senior Physician at Levanger Hospital and Postdoc at Karolinska Institutet (2014-2018).
Research focuses on epidemiology of digestive diseases, including celiac disease, GERD, inflammatory bowel disease, and digestive tract cancers. Key projects include population-based studies using the HUNT cohort and Nordic health registries.
Awards include the 2021 Health Central Norway RHF Research Award and membership in NTNU’s Star Program 3.0 (2019-2023). He also holds leadership roles in the Norwegian Gastroenterological Association and Research Committee, Health Nord-Trøndelag.
Teaching responsibilities include medical students at NTNU/St. Olavs Hospital and NTNU Link/Levanger Hospital. Active in supervising PhD, master’s, and medical students.
