Kristin Hestmann Vinjerui is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health and Nursing at NTNU's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She holds a Cand. med. (2010) from NTNU and a joint PhD in Behaviour and Health from NTNU and Australian National University (2014-2021). Her postdoctoral research (2022-) focuses on register-based healthcare research within the Regforsk project. She has held roles at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) and the HUNT Research Centre in Levanger.
Her research interests center on social epidemiology, multimorbidity patterns, healthcare utilization, and health inequalities. Key projects include studying social disparities in multimorbidity prevalence and mortality using HUNT Study data, and analyzing impacts of general practitioner transitions on patient outcomes. She has published extensively on topics like vaccination coverage among immigrant populations and healthcare system challenges in Norway.
Teaching responsibilities include clinical communication training for first-year medical students in the Lege-pasient-kurset (LPK) program. Her methodological expertise includes registry data analysis and causal inference techniques.
