Carlos A. Avila is an Associate Professor at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Weslaco, Texas. His research focuses on vegetable breeding and crop improvement, integrating conventional breeding with modern molecular tools to enhance disease resistance, yield, and nutritional quality in tomatoes, spinach, and melons.
