Dr. Andrea Zunino is a Lecturer at the Institute of Geophysics, ETH Zurich, within the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. His research focuses on developing methodologies to infer subsurface Earth properties using probabilistic approaches, including Monte Carlo methods. Key areas include inverse problems, seismology, and computational geoscience. He previously collaborated with Klaus Mosegaard on probabilistic inverse problems and geostatistics. Current work involves ambient noise seismic tomography and Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (HMC) strategies for geophysical problems. Research interests emphasize nonlinear inverse problem solutions, particularly through HMC frameworks like HMCLab, an open-source tool for diverse geophysical applications. His work integrates adjoint methods for efficient sampling and uncertainty quantification.
