James W. Stewart II, MD is a General Surgery resident at Yale University School of Medicine and a Research Fellow in the National Clinician Scholars Program (NCSP) at the University of Michigan's Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI). His academic development includes pursuing a Master of Science in Health & Healthcare Research. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (B.A. in Biology with a Music minor) and earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College. His research focuses on addressing health disparities in cardiac surgery, particularly in heart transplantation access, pre/post-transplant care equity, and improving care delivery for minority populations with end-stage heart failure.
