Hong Yuan Reveau-Sun is an Associate Professor in Chinese within the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Cultures at the University of Picardie Jules-Verne. She specializes in Chinese language and civilization courses across bachelor's and master's levels in the Applied Foreign Languages (English-Chinese) program, teaching subjects ranging from Translation-Theme and Contemporary Chinese Society to advanced Economy and Society courses. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Linguistics from University of Nantes/Leiden University (2014), Master's degrees in Language Sciences and French as a Foreign Language from University of Nantes (2008, 2006), and a Bachelor's in French Language and Literature from Dalian Institute of Foreign Languages (2002). Professor Reveau-Sun's research focuses on formal syntax and semantics, particularly the syntax-semantics interface in Mandarin Chinese. She investigates how temporal interpretation works in a language lacking grammatical tense markers, examining bare predicates, aspect-marked constructions, and their temporal readings across different clause types. Her work contributes significantly to understanding cross-linguistic variations in tense systems and the relationship between tense, aspect, and modality. Her research interests span Chinese linguistics, languages without grammatical tense, temporal reference in independent versus subordinate clauses, syntactic/morphological/semantic tense, future/non-future distinctions, lexical and grammatical aspect, state and event predicates, causality readings, and genericity/habituality phenomena. Throughout her career, Professor Reveau-Sun has maintained strong connections with international linguistic research communities, evidenced by her doctoral committee comprising scholars from multiple prestigious institutions and her delegation to the CNRS working with the Nantes Linguistics Laboratory. She has taught at various French institutions including University of Nantes, Audencia Nantes, and École des Mines de Nantes before her current position at University of Picardie Jules-Verne.
