Prof. Dr. Maik Stöckmann serves as Professor of Landscape Planning and Landscape Informatics at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences since September 2020, operating within the Department of Landscape Sciences and Geomatics. His academic work integrates geospatial technologies with landscape conservation policy frameworks including the European Landscape Convention and Federal Nature Conservation Act. His research specializes in cultural-historical landscape structures, with particular focus on archaeological monuments in forestry such as Celtic fields and medieval field wastelands. He employs advanced methodologies including RTK-GNSS mobile data acquisition and geostatistical analysis of large datasets for documenting cultural heritage landscapes. Current projects emphasize the intersection of landscape informatics with cultural-historical archive soils and forest heritage conservation. He directs the Geoarchäologie- und Umweltlabor (Geoarchaeology and Environmental Laboratory) and develops educational resources including a QGIS video course and historical cultural landscapes course. His teaching incorporates practical applications of digital terrain model evaluation and mobile data collection technologies within landscape planning curricula. Professional activities include managing KIG Kulturlandschaft und Informatik GmbH since 2009 and supervising student theses on landscape informatics topics. His background includes doctoral research at the University of Rostock on cultural-historical-ecological spatial structures, completed in 2007.
