Dr. Herb O Hoffmann is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Aeronautics, College of Aviation, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Aeronautical Science Management) from Northcentral University and a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle. His career spans 37 years in military aviation, air traffic control, and safety management. He served as a U.S. Air Force Air Battle Manager, pilot, and safety expert at German Air Traffic Control (DFS). His research focuses on aviation safety, project management, human factors, and navigation systems. Dr. Hoffmann has taught since 2004 at Embry-Riddle and DFS Academy. Key achievements include leading the GBAS Bremen project, managing safety cases for unmanned systems (e.g., EuroHawk), and serving as a safety lead for European airspace initiatives like FABEC and SESAR. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds FAA flight instructor certifications.
