Professor Ruoling Chen is a full-time academic at the University of Wolverhampton, holding the position of Professor of Public Health and Medical Statistics within the Faculty of Education, Health, and Wellbeing. Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer at the University of London, University College London, and the University of Dundee, and as a Visiting Professor at Johns Hopkins University. With over 30 years of experience in epidemiology and public health research, his work spans chronic disease management, environmental health impacts, and global health policy development. His methodological expertise includes systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and large-scale cohort studies, with significant contributions to aging research, social determinants of health, and environmental exposure interactions. Recent articles demonstrate his ongoing work in air pollution's health impacts, dance injury prevention, and reproductive health outcomes in Chinese populations. His publications (over 200 papers, h-index 40) show consistent leadership in environmental health, mental health, and aging research. Notable projects include establishing a China-wide cohort study on dementia and chronic diseases in older adults. Prof Chen has secured major grants from the BUPA Foundation, EU Horizon 2020, and the China Scholarship Council, totaling over £1 million. Professional recognitions include being named a Senior Fellow of The Higher Education Academy and inclusion in the World Top 2% Scientists list. He actively mentors five PhD students and serves as a peer reviewer for journals like Nature Medicine and The Lancet Healthy Longevity . Prof Chen leads the Population Health research group at the University of Wolverhampton, fostering international collaborations with institutions such as University College London and the University of New South Wales. His team specializes in population-based health research, clinical epidemiology, and evidence-based policy development. The group's work informs public health interventions through rigorous data analysis and cross-cultural comparisons, particularly between China and Western countries.
