معرفی
Héctor Botella Sevilla is a Professor in the Department of Botany and Geology at the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Universitat de València. He is affiliated with the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology (ICBBE) and leads the Early Vertebrate Evolution Research (EVER) group, focusing on the evolutionary paleobiology of early vertebrates.
His research interests center on Palaeontology, particularly the morphology, systematics, and hydrodynamics of early chondrichthyans and agnathans from the Devonian period. His work integrates fossil analysis with biomechanical interpretations to understand the evolutionary adaptations of early vertebrates.
The EVER research group conducts paleontological investigations into the origins and diversification of vertebrates, with a strong emphasis on microfossil records and stratigraphic contexts. This research contributes to broader understanding of biodiversity patterns and evolutionary processes in deep time.
Dr. Botella Sevilla earned his PhD from the Universitat de València in 2005 with a thesis on Lower Devonian microichthyoliths from Noguera (Iberian Range), focusing on paleobiological and hydrodynamic aspects of primitive fish groups.
He has supervised doctoral research, including the thesis of Dr. José Ignacio Valenzuela Ríos, and continues to mentor within the ICBBE research ecosystem. While specific grants are not mentioned, his ongoing affiliation with a major research institute suggests active participation in funded paleontological projects.
