Kerry Michelle Smith is a researcher at George Mason University specializing in Writing and Rhetoric. She works with a focus on pedagogy, transfer of learning, and threshold concepts in first-year writing programs. Her research also intersects with affect theory and the rhetoric of true crime. Education: MA in Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication from James Madison University; BA in Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication with a minor in Creative Writing from James Madison University; AS in Social Sciences from Northern Virginia Community College Her 2020 Master's thesis developed a curriculum mapping tool linking threshold concepts with transfer practices in writing education. She coauthored a 2020 annotated bibliography on rhetorics of reproductive justice published in Reflections: A Journal of Community-Engaged Writing and Rhetoric .
