Stacey Pierson is a Professor of the History of Chinese Ceramics at SOAS University of London, affiliated with the School of Arts and Department of History of Art and Archaeology. She holds advanced qualifications including a DPhil from Sussex University and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) and the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Her career includes a significant tenure as Curator of the Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art (1995–2007), housing the renowned David ceramic collection. Research Interests Her work focuses on Chinese ceramics' art history, archaeology, and technology; the global movement and impacts of Chinese ceramics; and the history of Asian art collecting and exhibition practices in Britain. Notable projects include research on Dr Johnson’s Chinese teapot (displayed at the British Museum) and studies on Ming porcelain’s global consumption. Awards - Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) - Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) Advising & Grants Supervises research students exploring topics such as Mongol-era art, transcontinental textile reception, and the socio-economic role of ceramics in Myanmar. Her editorial roles include series editor for Routledge’s "Histories of Material Culture and Collecting, 1550-1950" .
