Her extensive museum experience includes curatorships at the Art Institute of Chicago (2008-2011) and the Museum for Islamic Art in Doha (2007-2008).
Dr. Kadoi's research focuses on the cross-cultural artistic relationships in Islamic Eurasia, particularly during the Mongol period, with special attention to Persian art in the eastern periphery of the Muslim world. Her work explores portability and materiality in Islamic Eurasian arts, revivalism of Islamic art in modern contexts, and the historiography of Persian art in the early 20th century. She also investigates curatorial practices, exhibition history, and the development of Islamic and Asian archaeological collections, with particular focus on provenance, connoisseurship, and the politics of display.
Her publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output across multiple prestigious venues, with recent work examining topics such as the historiography of Islamic art, Buddhist influences in Ilkhanid Iran, and the role of photography in shaping perceptions of Persian architecture. Her research shows a consistent pattern of examining cross-cultural connections, particularly between Persia and China, and the movement of artistic ideas and objects across Eurasia.
