Prof. Dr. Oliver Lehnert is a full Professor of Geology and associated scientist at the GeoZentrum Nordbayern, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Germany. He conducts integrated stratigraphic and palaeoclimatic research on Palaeozoic successions worldwide. Education & Affiliations: Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) – Chair of Geology, GeoZentrum Nordbayern Research Interests: His work centres on Palaeozoic stratigraphy, conodont palaeontology, stable-isotope chemostratigraphy, palaeoclimate change and extinction events . Specific foci include Ordovician–Silurian carbon and oxygen isotope records, reef and mound evolution, conodont taxonomy and palaeogeography of Laurentia, Baltica and Gondwana margins. Publication Trends: Between 2025 and 2015 he has published extensively on high-resolution conodont biostratigraphy paired with δ 13 C and δ 18 O chemostratigraphy from Sweden, China, Siberia, Norway and the Baltic region, emphasising global correlation of climate perturbations such as the Hirnantian glaciation, MDICE and Lau events. Scientific Awards: No specific awards listed in the provided text. Research Funding & Teams: He currently leads and collaborates on multiple DFG-funded projects within the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP), notably the COSC-2 drilling campaign targeting lower Palaeozoic sedimentary sequences beneath the Scandinavian Caledonides. These projects integrate sedimentology, geochemistry and geophysics to reconstruct basin evolution, climate change and tectonic processes.
