Dilek Colak is an Associate Professor at the Feil Family Brain & Mind Research Institute of Weill Cornell Medicine. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric diseases, particularly autism and schizophrenia. Primary appointment: Feil Family Brain & Mind Research Institute Secondary appointment: Pediatrics, Gale and Ira Drukier Institute for Children's Health Research Interests Molecular basis of neurodevelopmental disorders RNA regulation in synaptic plasticity Glial cell contributions to neuropsychiatric disease Use of iPSC-derived cerebral organoids for disease modeling Neurogenetic mechanisms of cognitive dysfunction Publication Trends show expertise in RNA biology, neurodevelopmental modeling with organoids, and synaptic dysfunction in psychiatric disorders. Her work bridges molecular neuroscience with translational approaches for therapeutic target identification. Scientific Awards EMBO Postdoctoral Long-term Fellowship (2009-2011) Druckenmiller Postdoctoral Fellowship (2011-2014) Blavatnik Regional Postdoctoral Finalist (2014) Leon Levy Foundation Postdoc Mentorship (2023) Lab Members include postdoctoral fellows (Michael Notaras, Megan Allen, Estibaliz Barrio Alonso, Pablo Lituma, Nicolle Morey), graduate student Isidora Stankovic, and technician Natalie Wayland.
