Jennifer Christine Nash is the Jean Fox O'Barr Women's Studies Distinguished Professor at Duke University, holding appointments in the Department of Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies under Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. She also serves as the Margaret Taylor Smith Director of the Program in Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies since 2022. PhD in African American Studies (2009) and JD from Harvard University. Her research focuses on Black feminist theory , intersectionality , race and law , Black maternal health , and visual culture . Recent publications explore Black feminist self-help genres, intersectional iconography, and care ethics across disciplines. Recent article trends include analysis of contemporary Black feminist trade books, interdisciplinary care theory, and critiques of dominance feminism and afropessimism. Her work spans journals like Signs , Public Culture , and GLQ: A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies . Scientific awards include Frederick Burkhardt Residential Fellowships (2019) Gloria Anzaldúa Prize (2019) Junior Faculty Career Enhancement Grant (2013) She teaches courses such as Foundations in Feminist Theory , Advanced Topics in Feminist Studies , and The Politics of Motherhood , reflecting her expertise in maternal politics and gender theory.
