Cristina Nan is an Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) within the Department of the Built Environment , specifically the Architectural Design and Engineering (ADE) unit. She previously held the same role at the University of Edinburgh from 2015 to 2020 and served as International Director of the Edinburgh College of Art. PhD in Architectural Robotics from HafenCity University, Hamburg (2015, magna cum laude ) MSc in Architecture from Technical University Munich (2010) Her research bridges computational design , digital fabrication , and material experimentation , focusing on technologies like 3D concrete printing , 3D clay printing , and architectural robotics . She explores hybrid material systems and non-standard geometries , emphasizing digital materiality and material circularity . Another key area examines socio-economic and environmental impacts of automation and ICT in architecture. Recent publications highlight her work on circular substructures , discrete systems , and digitally fabricated timber structures . Her projects, such as Exploring 3D Concrete Printing on Circular Substructures for Circular Futures (2022–2023), demonstrate practical applications of these themes. She has received BOOST Innovation Grants in 2021 and 2022 for Computational Futures and Digital Design Lab . Scientific Awards : BOOST Innovation Grant - Digital Design Lab (2022) BOOST Innovation Grant - Computational Futures (2021) Cristina co-founded the Future//Fields Think Tank (2019) and participates in events like the Venice Architecture Biennial (2023) and Dutch Design Week (2021–2023). Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable cities and responsible consumption.
