Professor Nikolay Stefanov Radulov, DSc, serves as a faculty member in the Department of National and International Security at New Bulgarian University. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades in security-related fields, he brings extensive practical experience from Bulgaria's Ministry of Interior and other governmental security institutions to his academic role. Radulov holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Rakovski National Defence Academy (1986-1992), where his dissertation focused on 'Management Culture.' His educational background also includes specialized training in computer sciences from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (1992), counter-terrorism courses from the US Institute for Transportation Security (1992), and democratic governance practices from the UK government's Know-How Fund (1998). His research interests center on national security frameworks, intelligence analysis methodologies, law enforcement challenges, and security policy implementation. Radulov has developed innovative approaches to intelligence resource management and security analysis, with particular emphasis on operational intelligence, counter-terrorism strategies, border security, and the epistemological foundations of intelligence work. His work consistently addresses the tension between security needs and civil liberties in democratic societies. Radulov's publications reveal a strong thematic focus on the practical challenges of security institutions, with recurring analysis of Bulgaria's Ministry of Interior (MVR) reforms, intelligence oversight mechanisms, and the implementation gap between security legislation and operational reality. His scholarly output demonstrates consistent concern with professionalizing security services while maintaining democratic accountability. As an educator, Radulov teaches advanced courses including Intelligence, Contemporary Issues in Intelligence, External Observation, Special Intelligence Resources, and Internship in Special Intelligence Means, preparing the next generation of security professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
