Emanuele Andrizzi is the Director of Orchestral Studies and Associate Professor of Conducting at Shenandoah Conservatory, Shenandoah University, where he has been employed since Fall 2023. Born in Rome, Italy, he received his musical education at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory and holds a diploma in piano performance from the A. Casella Conservatory, a master's degree in conducting from Bard College, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Northwestern University. His research focuses on symphonic, operatic, choral, and ballet repertoire, with a specific emphasis on promoting Italian opera in American contexts. He founded the Opera Festival of Chicago to showcase rare Italian masterpieces, which has gained international recognition through broadcasts on classical music stations. Awards and honors: Conductor of the Year Award (Illinois Council of Orchestras, 2021) Honorable Mention at International Competition for Conductors of Contemporary Music Winner of P. Barrasso International Competition for Chamber Music Officer of the Knights of the Order of the Star of Italy (2024) Andrizzi established the Opera Festival of Chicago's Young and Emerging Artists Programs and previously served as founder and music director of the Cervantes Orchestra of Chicago. He has conducted masterclasses at Northwestern University and Cleveland Institute of Music, and worked with the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
