Evangelos Christou is a Professor of Tourism Marketing at the Department of Organisation Management, Marketing and Tourism, within the School of Business Administration at the International Hellenic University, Greece. He also serves as the Director of the Tourism Research Laboratory, leading innovative research in digital tourism, branding, and hospitality education. His research interests span tourism marketing, digital and social media in tourism, consumer behavior, branding strategies, and service quality. He has extensively published on destination image, digital marketing, and wine tourism, contributing over 100 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and conference papers. His recent publications reflect a strong trend toward digital transformation in tourism, including the metaverse, AI, blended learning, and Industry 4.0 applications in education and HRM. This indicates a forward-looking research agenda integrating technology with tourism and educational practices. Professor Christou is the founding editor of the Journal of Tourism, Heritage & Services Marketing and serves on the editorial boards of several international journals in tourism and hospitality. He actively collaborates with governmental bodies, tourism boards, and multinational enterprises to translate research into strategic insights. As an educator and mentor, he has supervised numerous doctoral candidates and coordinated international research initiatives under Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programs, promoting innovation and global engagement in tourism education. His work bridges academia and industry through applied research and collaborative projects. He leads the Tourism Research Laboratory, a hub for interdisciplinary research in tourism innovation, digital marketing, and sustainable destination development. The lab fosters collaboration among academics, students, and industry partners.
