Katherine Sredl is a Lecturer of Marketing at Loyola University Chicago's Quinlan School of Business. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Communications from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Graduate Minor in Balkan Studies. She also holds an MS in Advertising and a BA in History. Dr. Sredl's research focuses on gender studies within marketing, examining how consumption rituals reflect societal changes and globalization. Notably, she explores post-socialist markets, media portrayals of gender roles, and the impact of globalization on daily life. Her work often integrates her dual Croatian-American identity with ethnographic methods.
Her professional roles include Senior Lecturer, Adjunct Instructor, and Visiting Scholar positions at institutions like Loyola's Family Business Center and the University of Zagreb. She serves on the International Advisory Board of the University of Rijeka's Faculty of Economics and Business. Community involvement includes leadership in the Association of Croatian American Professionals and the Croatian Women’s Network.
Dr. Sredl teaches courses like Digital Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and International Marketing. Her research has been published in journals such as Consumption Markets & Culture and Journal of Macromarketing. She received the 2024 Croatian Women of Influence Award for Science and Technology. Her recent work addresses gendered market subjectivity, midlife consumption patterns, and sustainable fashion perceptions.
