Dr. Dimitra Dimitriou is a linguist specializing in phonetics and phonology at the University of Central Lancashire (Cyprus Campus) within the School of Arts, Media & Communication. Holding a PhD (2017-2023), MA (2015), and BA (2014) from Lancaster University, her academic career includes affiliations with the A.G. Leventis Foundation Scholars Association. 2017-2023: PhD in Phonetics and Phonology (University of Central Lancashire, UK) 2015: MA in English Language and Literary Studies (Lancaster University, UK) 2014: BA in Linguistics and English Language (Lancaster University, UK) Her research focuses on second language phonetic acquisition, speech perception/production mechanisms, sociophonetic variation, forensic applications of linguistics, and corpus-based language teaching methodologies. She has developed perceptual training frameworks for L2 English vowel acquisition and investigated articulatory constraints in rhotic consonant learning. Recent publications analyze cross-linguistic vowel perception between Dutch and Greek-Cypriot phonologies, multimodal consonant recognition challenges, and historical phonetic training impacts. Her work integrates experimental phonetics with pedagogical applications, particularly for Greek-Cypriot learners of English. Scientific recognitions include: A.G.
