Dr Sue Cake is a Senior Lecturer in Scriptwriting at QUT’s School of Creative Arts (Faculty of Creative Industries, Education & Social Justice). She holds a Doctor of Creative Industries from QUT and a Master of Arts in Film and Television Studies from Griffith University. Her research focuses on narrative comedy screenwriting as a vehicle for transformative learning and critical resistance against neo-liberal educational structures. Key creative outputs include the practice-led project *Fighting Fit*, a satirical TV series critiquing corporate education models. Cake has extensive experience in screen production education, TVET curriculum design, and international development projects such as the ABC-funded South Pacific media initiative. She is a peer reviewer for the *Journal of Reflective Practice* and active in professional bodies like the Australian Writers Guild.
Her teaching spans foundational and advanced screenwriting units, mentorship in situated creative practices, and pedagogical innovation in project-based learning. Notable projects include developing screen training materials for regional institutions and authoring an *Innovative Teaching Guide* for TVET journalism educators. Cake’s research has been published in *Studies in Australasian Cinema*, *Journal of Screenwriting*, and *The Palgrave Handbook of Script Development*.
